Why Hire Quaker City?
The Quaker City motto is Class, Pride, and Commitment. And we stand
by this motto whole-heartedly. With a reinforcement of faith in this
motto, the Quaker City String Band can proudly proclaim we offer the
Best in Mummers entertainment. The Quaker City String Band is a perennial
favorite among the thousands of spectators who brave the frigid temperatures
on New Years Day to watch the band strut through the heart of downtown
Philadelphia.
The band has used its creativity and innovative style to become a
consistent top prize winner. Each New Year's Parade requires a different
theme with new challenges to mold top-notch music, costume and choreography
into the ultimate presentation. Since 1999, Quaker City has set an
unprecedented record in the Philadelphia Mummers Parade by not finishing
below second prize. This gives us the opportunity and the pleasure
to say that each performance Quaker City delivers is top notch.
Not only does Quaker City deliver their championship sound to Philadelphia
and the surrounding Delaware Valley but the band has taken its unique form
of entertainment to audiences all over the world including Cuba, Mexico,
England, Canada, France, and Italy. Since 1986 the band has performed
in Galveston, Texas for the annual Mardi Gras festivities. Also, beginning
in 1988, Quaker City has performed in Kiltimagh's annual St. Patrick's
Day celebration in County Mayo, Ireland.
This is just a little bit of what Quaker City has to offer. We will
supply you with a wide spectrum of costumes, music, and cheer that
is unique and true to the Philadelphia tradition. Our Captain, Charlie
Roetz, will lead the band in a joyous celebration with an emphasis
on audience participation. Whether it be a concert or a parade, your
event can be brought to life with the festive sounds and celebration
of the mummers. Please Contact Us to find out more on hiring our Class
